An American Cancer Society report confirms yet again how much the world needs the Lord's counsel in the Word of Wisdom. According to this report,"there will be more than 12 million new cancer cases and 7.6 million cancer deaths worldwide in 2007." Amazing, "tobacco was responsible for about 100 million deaths around the world during the 20th Century, and it is projected to kill more than 1 billion people in the 21st century."
Given tobacco's terrible addictiveness and Satan's plan to use it to bind people, the Lord gave Section 89 of the Doctrine and Covenants to protect his sons and daughters:
3 Given for a principle with promise, adapted to the capacity of the weak and the weakest of all saints, who are or can be called saints."Chain"-smoking takes on a whole new meaning in light of this revelation.
4 Behold, verily, thus saith the Lord unto you: In consequence of evils and designs which do and will exist in the hearts of conspiring men in the last days, I have warned you, and forewarn you, by giving unto you this word of wisdom by revelation—
